Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Utilities Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for the design, installation, integration, configuration, diagnosis, security, and commissioning of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) for water and wastewater treatment systems. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, ensuring the security and integrity of ICS environments, as well as offering technical support across various projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design, program, and commission SCADA-based automated control systems.
Support process control improvements by collaborating with stakeholders to identify, test, and implement system enhancements.
Provide technical support during the design, construction, and startup phases of capital infrastructure projects.
Coordinate the work of internal and contract electrical and instrumentation staff, as needed.
Troubleshoot and support plant control systems, instrumentation, motor control equipment, power distribution, UV systems, and SCADA systems.
Commission new equipment and assist with training for plant operations and maintenance staff.
Participate in project meetings and review project design documentation.
Prepare computer-aided design (CAD) electrical drawings and technical documentation in compliance with established standards.
Assist in the procurement of goods and services.
Perform administrative duties related to purchasing equipment.
Participate in other special projects and tasks as required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
At least 3 years of relevant work experience in electrical engineering, preferably within industrial control systems, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and relevant industry knowledge.
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver’s license is required.
Knowledge & Skills:
Proficiency with Modicon PLCs, AutomationDirect PLCs, Wonderware software, and Ignition software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in an industrial environment, including handling chemicals, solvents, and dust.
Ability to obtain a City driving permit.
Physical Demands:
Medium physical effort required, including the ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Physical tasks may include balancing, climbing, crawling, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, and walking.
Requires visual acuity for data, equipment inspections, and color differentiation.
Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to chemicals and solvents.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted in an industrial setting where errors can lead to significant consequences.
Responding to emergencies and working outside regular hours may be required.
