We are seeking a skilled Utilities Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic team in Charlotte, NC. This direct hire position offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work on essential water and wastewater systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, diagnosis, and commissioning of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), with a focus on water treatment and distribution and wastewater treatment and collection.
Responsibilities:
Design, program, and commission SCADA-based automated control systems.
Support process control improvements by collaborating with stakeholders to identify, test, and implement improvements.
Provide technical support during the design, construction, and startup of capital infrastructure projects.
Troubleshoot and provide engineering services for plant control systems, instrumentation, motor control, power distribution equipment, UV systems, and SCADA.
Develop and modify Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, including graphics creation, tag database generation, report development, and computer configuration.
Assist in equipment commissioning and provide training to plant operations and maintenance staff.
Prepare electrical drawings and technical documentation according to industry standards using computer-aided design (CAD).
Participate in capital improvement project meetings and review project design documentation.
Assist in the procurement of equipment and services and perform administrative duties related to purchasing.
Ensure data security and integrity of ICS by establishing operational guidelines and controls.
Collaborate with other departments to integrate ICS with system databases.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably with experience in industrial control systems and related software.
Alternatively, a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Modicon PLCs, AutomationDirect PLCs, Wonderware software, and Ignition software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in an industrial environment around chemicals, solvents, and dust.
Ability to obtain a City driving permit.
Physical Demands:
Medium physical work: ability to frequently apply up to 30 pounds of force, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as balancing, climbing, crawling, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
Visual acuity to identify equipment, inspections, and data.
