Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, and are in the process of expanding our team with the addition of a Staff Accountant. Operating in the multifamily property ownership and management industry, this role will involve full-cycle accounting responsibilities for a portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with the Accounting Manager and Controller on various accounting tasks
• Preparing and entering journal entries for month-end close, including accruals, depreciation, amortization, capitalization, and true-up entries
• Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of payable and receivable accounts, including working closely with property managers to ensure rent roll accuracy
• Processing expense approvals and analyzing variances
• Carrying out partnership accounting, which includes consolidation/elimination entries
• Conducting bank reconciliations and ensuring ledger details are accurate and up-to-date
• Assisting in year-end audits and tax preparation work
• Serving as a reliable resource for vendors, accounting department colleagues, and other personnel
• Managing related clerical duties such as word processing, postage, and mailings.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, and Full Cycle Accounting
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, Accruals, Audit Activities, US GAAP, and Microsoft Excel
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and work extended hours during critical periods
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work both within a team and independently.• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required
• Experience with Bank Reconciliations is mandatory
• Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries is necessary
• Must have experience with Month End Close
• Proficiency in using NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP is required
• Experience with Full Cycle Accounting is necessary
• Knowledge of Accruals and Audit Activities is required
• Must be familiar with US GAAP
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory
• Must be able to legally work in the United States
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
