***INCENTIVES AVAILABLE FOR THIS POSITION***

Infant Mental Health Therapist will work with the parent (or expecting parent), program staff and community resources to provide a continuum of services to infants and their families. This community-based service will work to strengthen and preserve the parent infant relationship, assist in identifying needs, and provide therapeutic interventions as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Completes all required trainings.
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled and at the location assigned.
  • Responsible for transporting consumers to community appointments, clinic appointments, activities and other resources as identified in their person-centered plan.
  • Proficient in ASQ and other mental health screening instruments.
  • Therapist completes required IMH/SED assessment trainings as required by the State of Michigan and gains certification within established timeframe.
  • Provide home-based therapeutic services.

· Practices Person-Centered Planning principles.

· Treatment planning integrates assessments to provide meaningful and individual goals and objectives.

· Completes required comprehensive documentation (IPOS, IBPS assessment, etc.) within established timeframe.

· Progress and Chart notes are completed within 48 business hours of service delivery.

· Treatment plans and reviews are completed within established timeframes.

· Direct service time. The clinician maintains 80 direct service hours, unless job assignments given with supervisory approval require a variance to this expectation.

  • Facilitate support groups as needed.
  • Provide client transportation as needed.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development including but not limited to in-service training, peer review, external workshops and seminars.
  • Attend all agency and department meetings as required.
  • When appropriate, completes other tasks as assigned in a reasonable established timeframe, with quality expectations.

The therapist comprehensively assesses client/parenting needs on multi-dimensional domains (behaviors, health, education, financial/housing/food security, relationships, meaningful activities, quality of life, etc.). Based on client and family needs, the therapist applies interventions to promote physical health, emotional well-being in young children and their families, reduce risk factors, and prevent and/or decrease emotional problems. The therapist will be able to identify what is under the surface and respectfully explore while maintaining unconditional positive regard.

The therapist efficiently manages caseload, consistently meets required timeframes and ensures the highest quality of service delivery and consumer satisfaction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or other related human service field.
  • Obtain appropriate certification through the Michigan Association of Infant Mental Health.
  • Background in early childhood development or basic understanding of appropriate parent-infant dynamics.
  • Preferred 2 years experience with direct clinical experience in providing therapeutic services to infants/toddlers and their families.

CREDENTIALING-LICENSURE

State of Michigan (LARA) license: LLMSW, LMSW, LLC, LPC, LLP- Employee is responsible for obtaining the required supervision for their respective licensure.

  • Ability to develop treatment plans and coordinate needed services.
  • Ability to role model appropriate child-handling techniques to parents.
  • An understanding of professional practice, ethics, and HIPPA requirements
  • Demonstrate positive communication both orally and written.
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner.
