Pay Range: [$50/HR – [$55/HR]

Job Summary:

This position serves a dual role involving direct in-person coordination with hospital facilities to enhance both National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) automated hospital reporting and pediatric readiness capabilities within hospital networks and facilities located in Indiana. It promotes best practices and quality improvement processes in hospital reporting and pediatric preparedness programs. The position involves developing statewide guidelines, aiding hospitals in transitioning to automated reporting platforms, creating educational modules, and providing quality improvement resources. It also serves as a resource and technical advisor to pre-hospital agencies, hospitals, healthcare practitioners, and non-healthcare entities to ensure hospital facility needs are met.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a state/jurisdiction capacity system for real-time bed counts in acute care hospitals, including critical access hospitals.
  • Manage user accounts and security parameters for a web-based dashboard to coordinate daily, surge, and crisis needs.
  • Coordinate emergency department data to the Hospital Capacity Data Store twice daily. Data includes ED census, admitted census, and ED pressure indicators.
  • Support the state's participation in the NHSN Connectivity Initiative by developing communications and training materials for hospital onboarding.
  • Train and onboard hospitals and stakeholders, collecting data for dashboard development.
  • Create a common framework of data elements for the dashboard and facilitate technical teams to automate secured data feeds.
  • Advise on shared governance models for decision-making and ensure participation in NHSN data-sharing agreements.
  • Obtain signed participation agreements from acute care hospitals for project participation.
  • Ensure compliance with CDC funding agreement terms and assist with scaling the initiative to other states.
  • Improve clinical and service outcomes for pediatric emergency care using federal/national guidance (AAP, CDC, FEMA, etc.).
  • Conduct hospital site visits to assess pediatric emergency care compliance, provide recommendations, and disseminate resources.
  • Facilitate bi-monthly Pediatric Emergency Care Workgroup meetings and assume leadership responsibilities.
  • Develop quality improvement plans and promote best practices related to pediatric emergency care.
  • Utilize data to identify trends, make recommendations, and develop reports for decision-makers.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or similar certification with hospital experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of hospital and quality improvement experience.
  • Ideal candidate has CPHQ or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Teams, Power BI, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Basic Keyboarding Skills, Web-based meeting/learning management systems, REDCap.
  • Computation Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions from various formats (written, oral, diagrams).
  • Qualifications: Accuracy, timeliness, independent functioning, confidentiality, teamwork, workflow organization, data analysis, report compilation, letter composition, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
  • Travel: In-state travel (~85% of the workweek), with occasional out-of-state overnight travel.
