Job Description

We are seeking a Packaging Mechanic for the 1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM). This role involves running, repairing, and maintaining packaging equipment under limited supervision. The position includes responsibilities such as installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production-related equipment and systems, including bottling, blistering, bundling, cartoners, wrappers, tube fillers, case packers, and palletizers. The ideal candidate will be trained into this role, with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge as equipment and technology evolve.

Responsibilities
  • Repair packaging equipment as needed.
  • Perform regular and preventive maintenance of packaging equipment to eliminate unscheduled downtime.
  • Conduct efficient and timely changeovers.
  • Adhere to cGMP’s, housekeeping, good safety practices, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in team processes and maintain good relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees.
  • Initiate purchase of required tools, parts, and materials, maintaining accountability for issued tools and parts.
  • Upgrade skills and knowledge as equipment and technology develop.
  • Perform all work reflecting a personal commitment to quality craftsmanship and job ownership.
  • Notify Supervisor of mechanical breakdowns that will take twenty (20) minutes or more to repair.
  • Become familiar with PLC's (Programmable Logic Controls) and ladder logic.
  • Report health/safety hazards to immediate supervisor or EHS Department and make appropriate repairs.
  • Diagnose, rebuild, modify, and repair packaging equipment.
  • Make recommendations for equipment upgrades and modifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Training in the repair and maintenance of production/manufacturing equipment.
  • Willingness to learn.
Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment within a rapidly expanding pharmaceutical packaging company. The facility is very clean, and the atmosphere is friendly and team-oriented.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wayne, New Jersey.
