Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are in the process of recruiting a Sr. Accountant for our client based in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity, which will involve a wide range of accounting tasks. The candidate will be involved in the full cycle of accounting activities, account reconciliation, cash balance management, payroll processing and assisting with various accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct full cycle accounting tasks, ensuring all financial records are accurately maintained. • Manage account reconciliations, ensuring that accounts are reconciled in a timely and precise manner. • Monitor and maintain company cash balances, taking necessary actions to ensure financial stability. • Prepare detailed journal entries and post them in the system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. • Assist the accounting controller with various tasks, particularly during month-end close. • Utilize Microsoft Excel for various reporting and analytical functions, providing accurate and timely information. • Operate within the Sage 100 system to perform accounting duties, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. • Contribute to the continuous optimization of accounting policies and process improvements, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in accounting operations. • Handle payroll processing tasks in Paychex. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Sage 100 and Paychex Payroll is preferred
• Thorough knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
• BSc degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree is preferred
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus
• Experience in performing full cycle payroll activities
