Position Overview:
As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Utilization Management Department. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and a solid understanding of ICD-9/10, CPT coding, and medical terminology. You will be the first point of contact for providers, ensuring their calls are handled promptly and accurately, while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Referral Processing: Monitor the Right Fax Server to ensure all referrals are processed efficiently and in compliance with turnaround timeframes.
• Data Accuracy: Verify the completeness of referral forms, obtain any missing demographic information, and make initial coding attempts for uncoded referrals.
• Authorization Accuracy: Meet accuracy standards for authorizing referrals at the UM Coordinator level.
• Customer Interaction: Represent the company professionally while answering calls for the Utilization Management Department, ensuring a friendly and helpful experience.
• Provider Communication: Collaborate with the Utilization Management Nurse to communicate with providers regarding authorizations, modifications, denials, and other relevant matters.
• Support Management: Assist management and Utilization Management Nurses as needed to ensure department goals are met.
Education & Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a data entry specialist or coordinator.
• High school diploma or GED required.
Key Qualifications:
• Proficiency in ICD-9/10 and CPT coding is required
• Experience in managed care or a physician's office is a must.
• Strong skills in computer applications, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
