School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Position Available in San Diego, CA

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: San Diego, CA

Employment Period: Summer and 2024-2025 School Year

Work Setting: Onsite

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team for the summer session and the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time, onsite position in San Diego, CA, involves working with a diverse TK-12 caseload. The SLP will be responsible for supervising SLPAs and delivering direct services to students.

Program Details:

  • Extended School Year (ESY): Work with 12-13 students from June 12th to July 12th, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, with an additional hour for preparation each day.
  • New School Year (NSY): Support a caseload of 30-35 students throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of students' speech, language, and communication abilities to identify their needs and eligibility for services.
  • Individualized Therapy: Develop and implement personalized treatment plans and therapy sessions tailored to students' specific needs across the TK-12 spectrum.
  • Supervision and Support: Oversee the work of Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs), providing guidance and supervision to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other service providers to integrate speech and language goals into students' overall educational plans.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, treatment plans, and IEP objectives. Prepare detailed reports and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Family Communication: Engage with families to update them on student progress, offer resources and support, and involve them in the therapeutic process.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed on the latest practices, research, and advancements in speech-language pathology through continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Current California state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Experience working in a school setting, particularly with a diverse TK-12 caseload, is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise SLPAs and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Work Schedule:

  • ESY: June 12th - July 12th, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, plus one hour of preparation each day.
  • NSY: Full-time position from August 2024 through May 2025, following typical school hours with some flexibility for meetings and professional development.
