Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Laborer for the general cleaning and sanitation of a flour mill. This role involves sweeping up flour dust, keeping the plant clean to meet safety standards, and blowing flour off equipment followed by sweeping it up. The position includes lock out/tag out procedures when cleaning inside equipment, with opportunities for cross-training in packing, milling, and other areas. There is potential for conversion to a rotating schedule after three months.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and sanitation of the flour mill.
• Sweep up flour dust and maintain plant cleanliness to meet safety standards.
• Blow flour off equipment and sweep it up.
• Execute lock out/tag out procedures when cleaning inside equipment.
• Participate in cross-training for packing, milling, and other tasks.

Essential Skills

• Experience in production, cleaning, and packing.
• Mechanical aptitude and good with hands.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable using computers for data entry.
• Experience in baking, cooking, palletizing, quality inspection, forklift operation, materials handling, and machine operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong math aptitude and ability to keep count.
• Ability to read and write proficiently.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work around flour dust and loud noises.
• Ability to work in hot conditions, especially in the summer.

Work Environment

The work environment is a flour mill where safety and cleanliness are paramount. Employees must follow safe food handling practices, including wearing a hair net and/or beard net, no piercings, hard hat, and steel-toe boots. The facility is an old and run-down looking building from the outside, characterized by dust, loud machines, and high temperatures that can reach up to 115 degrees in the summer. The job involves working on 13 floors, which can be slippery due to flour, and requires going up and down stairs every day.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cheney, Washington.

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50
