Job Details:

  • Position: Full-time
  • Orientation: 8/16/2024
  • Caseload:1 - Preschool

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized support to a preschooler, implementing IEPs and behavior plans tailored to their developmental needs.
  • Monitor and document the childs progress, adjusting strategies as needed to promote their growth and learning.
  • Assist the child during transitions between activities, using calming techniques and supportive strategies to facilitate smooth changes.
  • Collaborate with educators and therapists to deliver effective interventions and supports based on the childs specific needs.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in early childhood education and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies, including those relevant to supporting the preschoolers needs.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of school special education paraprofessional experience
  • Must meet one of the following within 1 year from hire:
    • 2 years of post-secondary study (48 college credits)
    • Associate degree or higher
    • Meet rigorous State or local assessment standards
    • Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate
    • Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators in PA through PaTTAN
    • Credential Process:
  • View seven core competency videos on PaTTAN, take quizzes, and download certificates
  • Document competency understanding with a supervisor, teacher, or principal
  • Submit completed checklist to PDE for approval
