Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Manager to oversee the administration of employee benefits across all company operations at our location in Madison, NJ. The Benefits Manager will develop, implement, and manage employee benefit programs to ensure competitive, cost-effective, and compliant offerings. This position plays a key role in collaborating with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators to manage self-insured medical plans, insurance captives, and other benefits while implementing cost control measures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer Employee Benefits Programs: Manage company-wide benefit programs, including retirement plans, medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, disability, and other employee benefits. Collaborate with insurance brokers to ensure competitive and cost-efficient benefits.
- Plan Design & Cost Control: Oversee the administration of self-insured medical benefits, working with brokers and third-party administrators to design benefit plans, manage cost-sharing strategies, and implement wellness programs to control expenses.
- Open Enrollment: Lead and coordinate the annual open enrollment process. Evaluate and compare existing benefit offerings with industry standards by analyzing plan designs, conducting surveys, and using relevant data. Partner with the Finance Department to manage budgets and costs related to benefit programs.
- Leave of Absence (LOA) Management: Administer and manage LOA programs, ensuring compliance with Department of Labor regulations, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other paid leave requirements. Track usage and coordinate with payroll and benefit carriers.
- Wellness Programs: Analyze medical claims and Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) usage to design and recommend wellness initiatives aimed at improving employee well-being and reducing overall healthcare costs.
- Workers’ Compensation: Assist with the filing and management of workers’ compensation claims, ensuring compliance with reporting and claim status updates. Participate in regular claims reviews to monitor costs and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in employee benefits management within the restaurant and/or hospitality industry
- Strong knowledge of benefits administration, including retirement plans, medical, dental, vision, and leave management.
- Experience managing relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance related to LOA, FMLA, workers' compensation, and other labor laws.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement cost-control strategies.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments, including HR, payroll, and finance.
