School Sign Language Interpreter

Location:Deer Park, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time, Full School Year
Work Environment: Onsite Only

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team for the uping school year. This position involves providing essential munication support to a secondary student located at an out-of-district location. The role is focused solely on school hours, with no extracurricular mitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective munication between the student and educators using American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Interpret classroom instruction and discussions, ensuring the student fully prehends the material.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Attend meetings as required to discuss student progress and needs.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Strong munication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting is preferred.
