Job Title: Environmental Services (EVS) Technician
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Environmental Services
Job Summary: The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital. This role is crucial in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control are met to support patient care and overall hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Follow established protocols for infection control and safety.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaners.
- Dispose of waste, including biohazardous materials, in accordance with hospital policies.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
- Assist in emergency clean-up situations as needed.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and biohazardous materials.
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
