Job Description

We are seeking a Vehicle Repair Technician for our Large Power Systems Division located in Lafayette, IN. In this role, you will perform a variety of functions and be responsible for mechanically and electrically troubleshooting and repairing various types of vehicles, ranging from bicycles to 50k ton fork trucks. This includes rail car movers, spotter trucks, fork trucks, mobile cranes, man lifts, trailers, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanically and electrically troubleshoot and repair various types of vehicles.
  • Oversee the maintenance of a 300-vehicle fleet, including stand-up forklifts.
  • Perform complete motor overhauls for gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Conduct hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Read and understand vehicle prints and schematics.
  • Communicate with fork trucks via computer.
  • Operate basic tools to diagnose diodes, capacitors, and electrical circuits.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair tasks.
Essential Skills
  • Diesel maintenance experience.
  • Forklift troubleshooting experience.
  • Troubleshooting of AC and DC servos.
  • Ability to read and understand vehicle prints and schematics.
  • Extensive experience with hydraulic troubleshooting.
  • Strong electrical skills.
  • Experience with tire press operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Zapi, GE, or related controls.
  • Basic computer operations in Excel and web-based applications.
  • Heavy equipment experience.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic tools for electrical circuits.
