Job Description:

Responsibilities for the Legal Assistant (Litigation):

5+ years’ experience as a legal assistant, with litigation experience preferred.
Provide secretarial assistance to attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of litigation practice.
Create, edit, and proofread documents in Word, Excel, and other applications as directed.
Ensure proper setup and handling of client files.
Assist with all aspects of court submissions, including knowledge and application of various court requirements.
Assemble documents, handle mailing, service, and submission of court filings (both hard copy and e-filing).
Answer phone calls, take notes/messages, and redirect calls when appropriate.
Manage multiple calendars and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings.
Manage client costs/vendor invoices related to the matter.
This position is in-person in Rochester, New York.
Required Experience and Qualifications for the Legal Assistant (Litigation):

Ability to work as a team with attorneys and other colleagues.
Thorough knowledge of New York State and Federal Court systems and processes.
High level of attention to detail and superior organization skills, grammar, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, plan and organize projects, implement individual tasks, and complete assignments with minimal direction.
Demonstrates initiative in supporting attorneys, paralegals, and clients.
Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Working knowledge of document management software.
Knowledge of standard legal file organization practices.
Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.
Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
