Qualifications

  • Completion of a California POST Basic Training Police Academy certificate within the last 30 months.
  • Successful completion of a thorough background investigation.
  • Preferred: A degree in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field.

Additional Requirements for Academy Graduates and Lateral Applicants

Academy graduates must fulfill all entry-level requirements and provide proof of enrollment in a California POST Basic Training Police Academy. Lateral applicants should have a minimum of two years of full-time sworn police experience.
