Job Overview

OBJECTIVE

The Culinary Education Specialist will take charge of conducting classes and events, elucidating recipes, and showcasing fundamental techniques throughout the cooking experience. Our ideal candidate is engaging, proactive, a strong representative of our brand, adaptable, innovative, and possesses the ultimate responsibility for orchestrating unforgettable culinary experiences. The Culinary Education Specialist will lead participants to delightful outcomes while providing entertainment in a relaxed atmosphere. This role requires a creative, hands-on individual dedicated to following, enhancing, and evolving the ZWILLING Cooking Studio concept.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Culinary Education Specialist will report to the Resident Chef and Culinary Program Manager, with responsibilities that include:

Organization

  • Assist in the effective preparation and execution of daily classes as directed by the Resident Chef.
  • Oversee classes designed by ZWILLING J.A. Henckels.
  • Instruct kitchen assistants and support staff.
  • Ensure the kitchen is cleaned and organized post-event.

Culinary Instruction

  • Conduct 1 to 2 classes weekly.
  • Adhere to the ZWILLING J.A. Henckels provided concepts, menus, and recipes.
  • Teach and demonstrate essential cooking techniques and knife skills.
  • Lead sessions for Cooking Studio events and corporate-sponsored initiatives.
  • Provide continuous coaching and constructive feedback to Kitchen Assistants.

Culinary Expertise

  • Ability to accurately discern differences in flavor intensity and quality, recognizing specific tastes and aromas.
  • Ensure high standards in food taste, presentation, and service.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of basic and advanced cooking techniques.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in quality products and innovations in the culinary field.
  • Basic knowledge of wines, beers, and spirits, with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage and serve alcoholic beverages and mix ingredients for cocktails and other drinks.

Sales

  • Utilize effective sales techniques to promote retail sales before, during, and after classes.
  • Act as an ambassador for the studio, creating opportunities to promote upcoming classes.

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Physical capability to reach, push, pull, bend, and lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Resident Chef.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching, food preparation, and catering.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience as a Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef.
  • Availability to work 1 to 2 events weekly, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to engage in training provided by ZWILLING J.A. Henckels.
  • Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Managers Certification.
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to inspire and engage class participants.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks accurately.
  • Proven teaching and training experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for cooking, with a desire to learn and support the long-term growth of The ZWILLING Cooking Studio concept.
