Job Summary

We are seeking a Data, Fire, and Security Design Lead to work with our team of mid-senior level Data Fire Security Engineers and design teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating complex designs that incorporate the latest design techniques, ensuring all specifications are met, and timely completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard design methods and techniques on primarily data and security systems.
  • Coordinate fire alarm and other low-voltage auxiliary systems work.
  • Apply standard design techniques and procedures, exercising judgment in making adaptations and modifications to design concepts.
  • Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and assistance in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
  • Coordinate and direct the work effort of designers on the same project, with some responsibility for checking portions of the completed drawings.
  • Prepare addendums and bulletins, initiate project change orders for submittal to the project manager.
  • Attend construction meetings, produce site observation reports, and final punch list.
  • Trouble-shoot design problems in the field during construction.
  • Develop an understanding of other discipline's needs and requirements and relate them to own discipline and total project scope.
  • Research design options and document findings for project engineer/architect.
  • Check design calculations and drawings.
  • Process shop drawings, check to ensure quality accuracy and completeness.
  • Frequent external customer contact.
  • May be requested to attend training to develop supervisory skills.
  • May serve as job captain on single discipline projects.
  • May write portions of specifications and assist in preparing design and construction cost estimates.
  • Understand and use varying codes and standards required for system design.
  • Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in the engineering or architectural fields preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years related designer experience.
