Job Title: Compliance Specialist

Westat is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join its legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, government contracting, and corporate compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day consultation on legal compliance issues, including employment, benefits, contracts, intellectual property, privacy, research integrity, risk management, and litigation.
  • Assist in-house counsel in providing guidance to project and support functions by applying knowledge of various legal and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with practice areas and corporate support departments on various small- and large-scale projects related to ongoing legal and compliance issues.
  • Develop, review, and update corporate policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures, and trainings.
  • Respond to requests for information, subpoenas, and litigation/agency actions, including document preparation and data gathering.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required and at least 3 years of relevant experience working in employment law, government contracting, human resources, corporate legal compliance, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Federal laws governing the employment relationship, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and Executive Order 11246.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of privacy laws, intellectual property, and/or government procurement law.
  • Experience with maintaining databases and conducting internet and database legal research.
