Job Summary

The Cloud Lead Engineer is a hands-on position that requires the ability to plan, design, and implement technical cloud solutions. You will help combine software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions for streamlined operations. Much of our support focuses on optimizing legacy systems, deploying new infrastructure and cloud services, and reducing work through automation of legacy processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Embrace and advocate a DevOps mindset
  • Work with Cloud Operations managers on alignment of documentation repositories, shared knowledge articles, and support contact information. Consolidate SharePoint team sites, migrate legacy documents into online wikis accessible to the entire team. Identify data that is commonly needed among teams to consolidate and ensure currency of the information such as remote site inventory, maintenance and support contracts, vendor contacts, etc.
  • Work with development teams throughout the software life cycle ensuring sustainable software releases
  • Build a Culture of One-IT by continuing to bring the Cloud Operations teams together to drive work, innovate, and improve delivery of our services. Work with peers to align resources to specific AWS accounts to improve operational knowledge of supported services, improve ownership and accountability, as well as improve recovery times. Build and drive adoption for greater reliability, resiliency, and scalability of our production applications, while maintaining a cost conscience approach
  • Lead and participate in disaster recovery tests for the environments you manage
  • Establish knowledge sharing and demonstration sessions to showcase those wins with peer IT orgs and affected business units. Document cloud architecture, security measures, and participate in client audits
  • Support enterprise transformation activities such as mentoring the team and reinforcing Agile and DevOps concepts in every day scenarios.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for all cloud services consumed by the team, and communicate any new enterprise standards or best practices to be adopted by the DevOps teams

Experience Requirements:
  • 8+ years of overall IT experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, Google, Oracle)
  • 2+ years of hands-on AWS experience
  • 3+ years of scripting/automation experience
  • Working knowledge in scripting languages and automation tools (JSON, Python, Ansible, GitHub, CodeShuttle) with respect to managing deployment automation
  • Advanced knowledge of infrastructure components (networking, load balancing, cloud services, orchestration tools, containerization, compute, and storage systems)
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Unix based operating systems
  • Familiarity with Splunk, AppDynamics or other monitoring tools
  • Experience in a client facing production support environment
Education/Requirements:
  • Cloud Certifications Desired (ranked by preference)
  • SAFe Certifications Desired (not required)
  • Bachelor or master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit/stand at a desk for up to 90% of time
  • Ability to work a minimum 40 hrs. routinely
  • Ability to lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequent use of computer screens, keyboards, telephone headsets, and other end-user office equipment.
