Emergency Room Registered Nurses (ER RNs) play a crucial role in delivering urgent and critical care to patients facing severe or potentially life-threatening health issues. They operate in dynamic, high-pressure settings and must possess the ability to think critically and make rapid decisions to safeguard patient health and safety. Key responsibilities of an ER RN include:
1. Evaluating patients' health status, including monitoring vital signs, collecting medical history, and conducting physical assessments
2. Creating and executing personalized care plans for patients, which include administering medications and treatments
3. Observing patients for any changes in their condition and responding appropriately
4. Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to diagnose and manage patient care
5. Utilizing and overseeing medical equipment, such as IV pumps and cardiac monitors
6. Maintaining precise records of patient care and ensuring effective communication with other healthcare providers to facilitate continuity of care
7. Offering education and emotional support to patients and their families
To qualify as an ER RN, candidates must hold either a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and possess a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in their respective state. Many ER RNs also pursue certifications, such as Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), to enhance their qualifications for emergency care roles.
This position is a contracted travel role, not a full-time position.
