Job Summary

Multicraft Contractors is seeking a skilled Welder Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for permanently fitting and welding various metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel parts, using high-heat application to form a permanent bond.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Read and Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan layout and procedures for welding projects.
  2. Operate Welding Equipment: Be proficient in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding processes, and determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements.
  3. Prepare Components for Welding: Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
  4. Align and Clamp Components: Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces in place for welding.
  5. Weld Components: Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
  6. Inspect and Test Welds: Inspect and test welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws and ensure welds meet standards and specifications.
  7. Maintain Equipment: Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety, and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.
  8. Supervise Automated Welding Tasks: Supervise machines or robots that perform automated welding tasks, and ensure they are functioning properly.
  9. Operate Heavy Equipment: Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of these essential duties, including working with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and in confined spaces.
  10. Drive Company Vehicle: Drive a company vehicle to various job sites throughout working hours, and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.
  11. Work in a Constant State of Alertness: Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, and maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, and welders certification may be required depending on job specifications.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of welding, structural brake forming, and other fabrication processes along with automated welding techniques, and ability to communicate clearly with other employees.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavations, at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including standing and/or walking for long periods of time, bending, reaching, and/or gripping frequently, climbing, pulling, and pushing, and lift up to 125lbs.
  • Work Environment: Work in a fast-paced fabrication environment, and adapt to changing demands and priorities.
