Job Overview

As the Head of Hotel Engineering, you will be entrusted with the comprehensive management of the physical assets of the property. This role encompasses the planning, execution, coordination, and oversight of all mechanical operations, maintenance, repairs, design specifications, and modifications necessary to ensure optimal functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the capital budget and manage departmental financials in collaboration with upper management.
  • Act as the primary liaison for all building systems, including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical concerns.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, management, and service providers.
  • Conduct human resource functions, including staff supervision, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate contractor and vendor operations in alignment with university facilities.
  • Analyze energy consumption and promote initiatives for enhanced energy efficiency.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment.
  • Ensure all facilities and equipment meet quality standards and are in excellent working condition.
  • Establish and uphold a preventative maintenance program.
  • Possess knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, and OSHA regulations.
  • Manage maintenance activities in conjunction with external contractors.
  • Negotiate contracts for operational needs as required.
  • Prepare and present reports for management review.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all areas and engage with department managers.
  • Responsible for overseeing safety policies and procedures within the division, including accident and injury management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a higher education degree or relevant certifications, along with five years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, nights, holidays, or weekends as needed.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Work schedule may vary based on business requirements.
