We are currently seeking a Fleet Operations Manager with a strong background in safety and dispatch to become a vital part of our team. This role is essential in ensuring the recruitment, support, and training of our drivers, all while thriving in a dynamic work environment. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with our safety and compliance department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the recruitment process for drivers, ensuring a consistent pool of qualified candidates.
  • Utilize various methods to source, recruit, screen, and interview experienced driver candidates, including cold calling and online resources.
  • Evaluate CDLs, DOT physicals, MVRs, and DQ files to ensure compliance.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture that emphasizes safety, quality performance, and a professional driver experience.
  • Participate in the training, orientation, and onboarding of new drivers.
  • Maintain knowledge of local labor market trends and policies relevant to drivers.
  • Manage driver performance, route scheduling, and equipment maintenance, collaborating with various departments to achieve operational objectives.
  • Conduct background checks and road tests for drivers, providing necessary training as required.
  • Ensure adherence to all company, client, OSHA, and Department of Transportation regulations and policies.
  • Maintain compliance with standardized processes for driver background checks and pre-employment medical screenings.
  • Perform periodic audits of DOT driver qualification files to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct driver performance evaluations, training, and development, while enforcing company policies and sharing important updates.
  • Facilitate the correct use of company systems and assist with driver training on these platforms.
  • Develop and implement local accident and injury prevention strategies.
  • Organize and deliver training and orientation programs, including monthly safety meetings for employees and drivers.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in safety and driver training.
  • Prior experience in driver training, recruitment, and safety compliance is advantageous.
  • Strong safety orientation with knowledge of HOS, DOT regulations, and driver welfare.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the trucking industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
