Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Materials to ensure packaging solutions meet customer and business requirements.
  • Design and innovate packaging solutions utilizing diverse materials for both new and existing products.
  • Establish and uphold packaging design and testing standards to fulfill both internal and external customer specifications.
  • Create and manage comprehensive packaging specifications and documentation for all materials used.
  • Oversee the development, delivery, testing, and evaluation of packaging prototypes.
  • Provide customer support to address inquiries and concerns regarding packaging.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing packaging quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate trials for manufacturing and distribution of new packaging systems.
  • Facilitate internal R&D lab testing and collaborate with external partners for packaging performance evaluations.
  • Assist in the procurement and installation of packaging equipment and tools.
  • Engage in recruiting and training efforts for Packaging Engineering interns.
  • Occasionally travel to industry conferences or expos related to packaging.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Packaging Engineering within an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of various packaging materials and technologies.
  • Familiarity with warehousing operations including storage, shipping, and receiving.
  • Understanding of ASTM and ISTA testing standards.
  • Awareness of ISPM-15 lumber compliance regulations.
  • Experience with ERP (BOM) and PDM systems such as Oracle, ENOVIA, JDE, SAP, or AS400.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and MS Office applications.
  • Experience with palletization software like TOPS or CAPE.
