Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to provide medical coverage for high school outreach programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing preventative measures, immediate care procedures, and clinical evaluation and treatment of injuries. This is a dynamic role that requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training services to high schools and community sporting events
  • Work within the Sports Medicine Team concept to assist with event coverage and attain departmental goals
  • Provide acute medical care to athletes during practices and sporting events
  • Provide clinical athletic training services in local orthopaedic clinics
  • Perform clinical injury evaluation and assessment of patient's level of function
  • Determine appropriate therapeutic treatment and provide rehabilitation and reconditioning strategies
  • Implement treatment program objectives and assess effectiveness
  • Collaborate with directing physician and recommend discontinuation of athletic training service when patient has received optimal benefit
  • Determine return to play standards of injuries for athletes and the active population
  • Maintain daily records of treatment logs, injury reports, and medical inventory management
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program
  • Master's preferred
  • Experience as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent leadership qualities and decision-making skills
  • Ability to interact with staff and visitors with a variety of developmental and sociocultural backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and understand and communicate medical terminology
Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The athletic trainer will provide services in the on-site high school athletic training room and may be required to work night and/or weekend shifts. The ability to manage a stressful work environment and situational awareness is necessary.

Physical Requirements

This role requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and finger and hand dexterity. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds is also required.
