Job Title: Freight Forwarding Specialist

At FedEx Logistics, we are seeking a highly skilled Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the timely movement of freight and cargo.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and their front-line personnel to ensure consistent customer service.
  • Prepare and submit documentation to agents and clients to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Anticipate and resolve problems that may delay the release or movement of freight.
  • Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, T&B, and other service providers to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Resolve banking and letter of credit problems, advise customers on payment terms, and resolve billing issues.
  • Complete accurate data input and corrections into computer files, obtain payment on delinquent accounts, and complete accounting adjustment forms.
  • Develop rates and quotes for the movement of freight, research and negotiate Air Carrier and CFS rates, and resolve billing issues on behalf of customers.
  • Generate special manual reports to meet customer needs, participate in QBR meetings, and review Letters of Credit.
  • Handle ITAR shipments, coordinate out-of-gauge shipments, and handle Hazmat shipments.
  • Monitor, address, and delegate iServe Cases, and work with management to anticipate and identify problems with workflow and productivity output.
  • Assist with training within the department and assist in account implementation, including development of SOP with customers, operations, and sales departments.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Knowledge of air export regulations, banking requirements for international trade, and regulations regarding dangerous goods shipping and foreign regulations.
  • Familiarity with handling hazardous materials and knowledge of regulations for import/export related to DOT.
  • Basic math skills for conversions to metric and currency evaluations.
  • Three years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics or work/field experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Flexibility to work Tuesday-Saturday 8am-5pm or based on business need cover 11am-8pm.
  • Three or more years of experience in air import and experience with Cargo Wise a plus.
