Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Import/Export Specialist to join our client's expanding team in New York City. In this essential role, you will manage international shipments, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries across key trade lanes for our clients' most important accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Strong Client Relationships: Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with clients.
  • Oversee Import/Export Operations: Manage international shipments from origin to final destination.
  • Prepare and Process Documentation: Prepare and process import/export documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with Customs Authorities: Coordinate with customs authorities for timely clearance of shipments.
  • Arrange Transportation: Arrange transportation, selecting the most suitable mode based on factors such as cost, transit time, and cargo requirements.
  • Negotiate Freight Rates: Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers to ensure profitability.
  • Identify and Resolve Shipping Issues: Identify and resolve shipping issues proactively to minimize disruptions.
  • Prepare Performance Reports: Prepare and analyze comprehensive performance reports to identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in freight forwarding, with a strong focus on import/export operations.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Software Experience: Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and customs clearance software (e.g., CargoWise, AS400, SAP) is a plus.
