Position Overview
We are in search of a Research and Development Information Systems professional to become a vital part of our innovative team.
In this role, you may be tasked with:
- Collaborating with architects, developers, technical leads, clients, and end-users to gather requirements, develop a vision, and design solutions tailored for our manufacturing environment.
- Planning, conceptualizing, conducting, or overseeing research and development projects for our clients and sponsors.
- Utilizing the scientific method to create new insights and capabilities through hypothesis testing and evaluation.
- Designing, developing, implementing, and assessing new processes, products, or enhancing software systems through both fundamental and applied research.
- Facilitating the development and potential technology transfer of solutions, products, principles, or technologies.
The selected candidate will have the flexibility to work both onsite and remotely. It is essential for the candidate to reside within a reasonable commuting distance from the designated work location.
Compensation Range
The salary range for this position is $95,400 - $185,700. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Qualifications Required
Candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in transforming user requirements into effective software enhancements or optimizations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of software support.
- In-depth understanding of application support and enhancement.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments.
- Extensive knowledge of production and R&D process controls from development through production and delivery.
- Proven experience in designing, planning, and executing software enhancement and development projects.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in extracting business requirements from legacy systems.
- Support and maintenance experience with legacy applications in various programming languages.
- Experience with report development frameworks.
- A successful history of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to work independently, set achievable goals, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
About Our Team
The Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex at Sandia National Laboratories offers exceptional processing capabilities in semiconductor microfabrication.
The MESA Fab facility is divided into two sections:
- A 12,500 sq. ft. class 1 cleanroom for silicon wafer fabrication, producing radiation-hardened CMOS integrated circuits and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMs).
- A 16,600 sq. ft. class 10 cleanroom for the fabrication of compound semiconductor circuits and devices, along with back-end metallization and packaging.
The Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) department is responsible for supporting the programming, security, and computing needs of MESA.
