Design Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing semi-truck accessories and related components. This role requires knowledge and experience in sheet metal design, conceptual development, and advanced concept engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and develop designs to support existing and new product offerings.
  • Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs.
  • Coordinate with development teams on concept realization and feasibility using 2D/3D modeling and rapid prototyping methodologies.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Use engineering analysis and simulation to design in product quality and reduce iteration and issues during new product introduction.
  • Create design documentation for release to manufacturing, including part/assembly drawings.
  • Support design through production tooling, qualification testing, and manufacturing introduction.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
  • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3+ years of experience in mechanical product design, or 7-10 years of relevant industry/functional experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2D/3D CAD mechanical design experience.
  • Experience in metal part design and associated mass production processes.
