We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin. Key Responsibilities- Integrate requirements and program new instrumentation data acquisition equipment, FTI fiber system, analog and digital signal conditioning hardware during integration and flight test.
- Work independently or lead a team to execute project, schedule, and technical requirements to meet the goals of the test program.
- Oversee installation, checkout, and calibration of data systems, to ensure collected data can be properly displayed, processed, and analyzed.
- Maintain configuration control, and mission capability of the instrumentation system as well as all associated ground support equipment.
- Responsible for specification, selection, design, integration, operation and maintenance of airborne data acquisition systems, and their related components.
- Support preflight, post-flight, and control room activities for all scheduled missions.
- Interface with test ops, maintenance, and management to ensure all instrumentation requirements are coordinated and accounted for.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience/combined education.
- At least nine years of related, professional experience.
- Ability to develop, test, and troubleshoot data acquisition systems and other instrumentation devices is required.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and process specifications.
- Background in related specialties: signal conditioning, transducers, data acquisition, video protocols and compression, GPS, IRIG 106, and avionics bus protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, IEEE 1394, Ethernet, and Fiber Channel.
- Proficient in troubleshooting techniques and tools, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other common laboratory equipment.
- Experience presenting to senior leaders, program management, and external customers.
- Technical team lead experience.
- Understanding of LM system engineering processes.
- Experience with Military and/or Government programs.
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to learn continuously and to identify multiple avenues to successfully reach team goals.
- Ability to formulate logical approaches to resolving technical problems.
- Ability to decompose aircraft system requirements and generate subsystem technical requirements.
- Ability to perform technical evaluations of supplier proposals and deliverables (acceptance, qualification test procedures and reports).
- Ability to generate basis of estimates for customer proposals and track schedules for team tasks.
- Ability to develop clear technical presentations for customers and suppliers.
- Proven abilities to define and select equipment to support engineering build requirements.
- Top Secret Clearance.
- Master's degree from an accredited college in Engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidate must work well individually and with team members across multiple organizations.
- Aircraft systems operations experience.
- Previous experience with Curtiss-Wright, Safran, or similar instrumentation hardware and flight test instrumentation operations.
