Job Description

Semper Valens Solutions is seeking a skilled Telecommunications/Electronics Technician to lead telecommunications installations on customer sites. The ideal candidate will perform site surveys, document current site telecommunications configurations, and develop equipment and system test plans.

The successful candidate will design and optimize telecommunications topologies, direct and lead development of engineering installation packages and project drawings, and develop on-site installation schedules. Additionally, the candidate will mobilize the telecommunications installation team and direct and lead documentation of configuration changes at each site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform surveys and assessments in accordance with the requirements for survey and design of LAN/WLAN upgrades.
  • Participate in pre-deployment meetings and ensure personnel have necessary drawings and programs.
  • Submit daily site survey reports and complete outbuildings connectivity spider diagrams.
  • Survey WLAN devices, infrastructure, and RF signatures, and heat map locations for preliminary prediction of AM placements.
  • Perform fiber/copper cable testing and utilize fiber cleaning pens.
  • Collect, verify, and organize network configurations for LAN and WLAN.
  • Physically inspect proposed cable pathways and document penetration requirements.
  • Survey CMR/SEA communications rooms and associated infrastructure for proper grounding and bonding.
  • Ensure all cabinets, equipment racks, and cable trays are properly bonded.
  • Survey power receptacle types, PDUs, and UPS systems supporting LAN/WLAN equipment.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of telecommunications/electronics vocational training or professional certification from an ABET accredited technical school or equivalent military school.
  • 5 years of experience in two or more of the specialties identified.
  • Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, or Ruckus technologies, switches, wireless LAN controllers, and wireless access points/air monitors.
  • IT/ADP Level I or IT/ADP Level II certification.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting telecommunications equipment and system interfaces.
  • Experience in testing communications and power equipment/systems and following standard test procedures.
  • Experience performing surveys and assessments in accordance with requirements for LAN/WLAN design upgrades.
