Job Summary: Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are in search of a skilled Technologist to join our clinical NGS laboratory. The selected candidate will execute advanced molecular profiling tests for patients with solid tumors and blood cancers. Familiarity with amplicon- and/or capture-based NGS assays is encouraged. The ideal applicant will also possess experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and automated liquid handling systems.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Conduct intricate technical testing as specified in approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), including NGS library preparation, target enrichment, and sequencing.
  • Collaborate with the laboratory supervisor to review and troubleshoot procedures and assignments.
  • Ensure the precision of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory's Quality Control SOPs.
  • Engage in the Proficiency Testing Program and inspections as assigned.
  • Participate in the laboratory inventory management program to maintain adequate supplies of reagents and materials.
  • Assist in the design, evaluation, and validation of new clinical NGS-based assays.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in NGS-based assays.
  • Strong organizational skills, troubleshooting capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
  • New York State clinical license is required.

About Molecular Diagnostic Services at MSK: The Molecular Diagnostics Service within the Department of Pathology develops and performs a variety of sophisticated clinical laboratory tests for comprehensive molecular profiling of tumors, aiding clinicians in defining cancer diagnoses and making informed treatment decisions, including participation in clinical trials.

The Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) laboratory is a pioneering clinical facility equipped with cutting-edge molecular technologies and high-throughput sequencing instruments.

MSK has developed premier tests such as MSK-IMPACT and MSK-ACCESS, with MSK-IMPACT authorized by the US Food & Drug Administration as a clinical test, utilized for profiling tumor and normal DNA samples in patient care. The "liquid biopsy" applications of MSK-ACCESS analyze circulating cell-free DNA, enabling genomic characterization of cancers when tissue samples are unavailable and allowing for ongoing monitoring of disease burden.
