Position Overview:


Gray Analytics is on the lookout for a candidate who will offer Software and System Safety Engineering guidance and support to a government project office, ensuring compliance with relevant safety policies, criteria, and standards.


The role involves providing expertise in software and system safety to define software design criteria and safety requirements, as well as conducting independent safety analyses, evaluations, and studies of software systems and equipment.

The candidate will assess contractors' safety engineering program plans to ensure that objectives are met.

Responsibilities include establishing software safety testing requirements, plans, and programs throughout the software development lifecycle.

The role also entails the development, execution, and management of internal software safety procedures and program plans.

Travel to laboratory and operational test sites will be necessary to evaluate system safety and mitigate existing hazards.

Basic Qualifications:
Must be a US citizen

Candidates should reside near Huntsville, AL, or be willing to relocate.


While primary duties are at a designated location, candidates should be prepared for travel to various test sites and equipment locations as needed.


A bachelor's degree (or Master's) in an engineering discipline or safety-related field, along with 4+ years of relevant experience, is required.


Expertise in safety principles, regulations, and practices, including experience in hazard control techniques and risk analysis on weapon systems, is essential.

Demonstrated experience in applying DoD/Army safety policies and regulations is mandatory.

Additional Qualifications:
Experience with air and missile defense systems is advantageous.


Familiarity with the application of system safety policies in agile software development or Model-Based System Engineering is a plus.

Candidates should excel in communication techniques to effectively lead safety initiatives.


Experience in timely hazard identification and the initiation of actions to mitigate risks is required.


Experience in developing, assessing, or managing a systems safety program for a DoD weapon system, whether hardware or software, is essential.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is necessary.

Candidates should demonstrate independent thinking, self-motivation, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments.

Security Requirements:
Must possess a current SECRET clearance.
