Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including heavy-duty motorized and automotive equipment, to perform construction, maintenance, and repair tasks on the City's public works infrastructure.
- Work under close supervision, following established procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as equipment operation, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; considerable experience in equipment operation or a closely related field preferred.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license and satisfactory driving record required.
- State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment required.
- Pass a background check and substance abuse screening prior to employment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
