Job Summary

As a RN Nursing Supervisor Long Term Care, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the operation of patient care on assigned shifts. You will ensure that quality patient care is provided, and you will be responsible for patient care management, human resource utilization, and the operational management of the nursing units.

Essential Functions
  • Perform limited charge nurse duties.
  • Conduct regular rounds to evaluate nursing care, assess staff performance, and provide teaching, feedback, and reinforcement.
  • Provide leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Instruct, exhibit, and supervise clinical nursing skills in accordance with nursing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct staff education on assigned shifts and obtain materials for resident care on assigned shifts.
  • Monitor documentation on new admissions and incident and accident reports regarding residents and staff policy compliance with facility policy.
  • Interpret and enforce departmental and human resources policies to employees on shift as required, and provide input for and give performance appraisals and initiate disciplinary actions to employees as necessary.
  • Ensure that available staff based on resident census is appropriately assigned to the respective nursing units and determine that adequate staff is available for the on-coming shift. Authorize overtime when required.
  • Inform and keep the Nursing Manager(s) apprised of changes of situations which develop on the unit during their individual shift.
  • Identify and assist in resolving resident and resident family emergency situations and determine whether the situation warrants the calling in of the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
  • Exemplify high standards of customer service skills and behaviors toward internal and external customers, co-workers, and subordinates.
  • Ensure customer service and performance standards are established and maintained in his/her area of responsibility.
Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree Completion of a Registered Nursing program from an accredited school with an associate's degree or higher.
  • 3 years of relevant experience Three to five years of previous nursing home experience. Preferred
  • Progressive supervisory experience. Required
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan required
