Job Summary

Under the guidance of experienced professionals and utilizing advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment, produces high-quality diagnostic images of the human anatomy and vasculature. Performs a range of imaging protocols and manipulates technical parameters to optimize image quality and acquire images that aid physicians in diagnosing diseases and conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  • Observes and adheres to regional, medical center, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient needs and provides care accordingly.
  • Documents clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
  • Maintains equipment, supplies, and work areas in accordance with department guidelines.
Essential Clinical Duties and Responsibilities

Interviews patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures, obtains patient history, and conducts imaging screens. Correlates requested exams with patient history and diagnosis, positions patients as required, and selects appropriate coils and monitoring devices. Obtains optimal MR imaging by selecting and applying imaging parameters, performs tuning procedures, and identifies and corrects artifacts. Recognizes the need for additional sequences, changes in protocols, and the need for paramagnetic contrast studies based on patient pathology, physical condition, or image quality problems.

Requirements
  • Two years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care medical center.
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program in radiological technology and an on-the-job or formal training program in cross-sectional anatomy and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California) and Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of clinical experience as an MRI Technologist in an acute care medical center.
  • Experience with GE MRI systems and additional training in the use and practices of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Advanced Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging issued by the ARRT.
