Job Summary

As an MRI Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality diagnostic images of the human anatomy and vasculature. Under indirect supervision, you will utilize Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to acquire images that can be utilized by physicians to diagnose disease processes and pathology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Observe all applicable Regional, Medical Center, and department policies and procedures.
  • Assess patient data and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
  • Document clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and work area in accordance with department guidelines.
Essential Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures, obtain patient history, and conduct imaging screens.
  • Correlate requested exams with patient history and diagnosis.
  • Select appropriate coils for requested exams and position them to demonstrate the area of interest.
  • Obtain optimal MR imaging throughout the entire region of interest by selecting and applying imaging parameters.
  • Recognize the need for additional sequences, changes in protocols, and the need for paramagnetic contrast studies based on patient pathology, physical condition, or image quality problems.
Requirements
  • Two years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care medical center.
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program in radiological technology and an on-the-job or formal training program in cross-sectional anatomy and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California) and Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of clinical experience as an MRI Technologist in an acute care medical center.
  • Experience with GE MRI systems and additional training in the use and practices of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Advanced Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging issued by the ARRT.
