MRI Imaging Specialist

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality diagnostic images that aid physicians in diagnosing diseases and conditions. Under indirect supervision, you will utilize MRI equipment to capture detailed images of the human anatomy and vasculature, applying advanced protocols and technical parameters to optimize image quality.
Key Responsibilities- Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, as well as applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Observe and adhere to Regional, Medical Center, and department policies and procedures.
- Assess patient data and interpret relevant information to identify individual needs and provide appropriate care.
- Document clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and work areas in accordance with department guidelines.
- Interview patients to explain MRI procedures, obtain patient history, and conduct imaging screens.
- Correlate requested exams with patient history and diagnosis, positioning patients as required for optimal imaging.
- Select and apply imaging parameters, such as field of view, slice thickness, and repetition time, to obtain optimal MR images.
- Recognize and correct artifacts, modify protocols as needed, and apply special applications of MR, such as contrast agents and MR angiography.
- Enter patient data, anatomical areas to be scanned, and orientation into the computer, adjusting transmitters and receivers as necessary.
- Two years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care medical center, or six months of experience as an MRI Technologist.
- Successful completion of an accredited educational program in radiological technology and an on-the-job or formal training program in cross-sectional anatomy and MRI.
- Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California) and Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Two years of clinical experience as an MRI Technologist in an acute care medical center, or computed Tomography experience.
- Experience with GE MRI systems and additional training in MRI practices.
- Advanced Certification in MRI issued by the ARRT and experience with Advantage Windows workstation and PACS.
