Responsibilities:
The Environmental Services Team Leader supports the Director of Environmental Services in overseeing departmental operations, including orienting new personnel, guiding daily tasks, assisting with recruitment and disciplinary actions, and conducting departmental meetings. This role is accountable for the management of Housekeeping, Linen Services, and Waste & Recycling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assigning, directing, and supervising departmental activities across both Day and Evening Shifts in close collaboration with the Director.
- Monitoring attendance of Environmental Services Aides and managing supply distribution for shifts.
- Scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage for departmental tasks and cleaning/linen service schedules.
- Conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with departmental standards and efficient job performance.
- Training staff on effective cleaning techniques and procedures.
- Assisting in the recruitment process, addressing grievances, and managing work schedules, vacations, and transfers.
- Collaborating with the Director to develop daily action plans and special cleaning initiatives.
- Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and ensuring proper equipment upkeep.
- Responding promptly to communication systems and prioritizing tasks based on urgency.
- Overseeing floor and carpet maintenance schedules and confirming timings with relevant departments.
- Conducting inspection tours and preparing detailed reports.
Additionally, the Team Leader is responsible for:
- Placing orders for Environmental Services through the Meditech System and maintaining accurate records of purchasing requisitions and confirmations.
- Completing and maintaining current departmental records, including attendance logs and equipment warranties.
- Assisting in budget preparation while adhering to financial guidelines.
- Supporting the Director in updating job descriptions, policy manuals, and compliance documentation.
- Supervising employee requests for time off in accordance with departmental policies.
- Preparing electronic payroll using the Meditech System and monitoring employee attendance.
- Scheduling and conducting meetings and training sessions in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A High School diploma is required, with 1-2 years of college education preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory experience along with 4 years of experience in environmental services. Familiarity with general housekeeping operations and cleaning solutions is essential.
Proven experience in maintaining hard surface floors and carpet care is required, along with the ability to operate various cleaning equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are necessary, and the ability to make independent decisions is crucial. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is preferred. Computer literacy is also required.
