Job Summary

The City of Spring Hill is seeking a highly skilled City Engineer to join our Development Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for reviewing land development projects, infrastructure projects, and providing general engineering support to the Development Services Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve land development projects, including residential, mixed-use, and commercial projects
  • Provide technical expertise in areas of construction problems, floodplain and drainage issues
  • Oversee new development work and perform site inspections
  • Estimate project costs and provide project management services
  • Supervise and direct the work of the Associate Engineer and lead development inspector
  • Attend and provide commentary at Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings
  • Provide staff assistance to the City Administrator and prepare staff reports and other necessary documents
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Five to seven years of experience as a Professional Engineer knowledgeable in general construction, water and sewer system construction, stormwater drainage, roadway construction, estimating, and development plans review
  • Valid Tennessee licensure as a Professional Engineer
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations
  • Ability to independently operate standard office equipment, computers, etc.
  • Ability to take oral and written instructions
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from the public and members of the business community effectively and professionally
Working Conditions

This position requires the use of software including but not limited to Office Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and use of appropriate technical equipment such as Trimble devices. The employee will work in a comfortable, climate-controlled office environment and will also frequently work in the field, which may include inclement weather conditions.
