We are seeking a highly skilled City Engineer to join our team at the City of Spring Hill. As a key member of our Development Services Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of public works projects.
Key Responsibilities- Review and approve land development projects, infrastructure projects, and provide general engineering support to the Development Services Department and other departments.
- Provide technical expertise in areas of construction problems, floodplain and drainage issues, and oversee new development work.
- Perform site inspections and estimate project costs, manage projects, and provide information to the public.
- Supervise and direct the work of the Associate Engineer and lead development inspector.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Ability to independently operate standard office equipment, computers, and software.
- Ability to take oral and written instructions and respond to inquiries from the public and members of the business community effectively and professionally.
- Ability to delegate authority and responsibility and possess working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of and experience in municipal procedures relating to finance, personnel, purchasing, office operations, risk management, and public relations.
- Knowledge of construction techniques involving streets, sewers, and other infrastructure systems.
- Knowledge of and experience in executing operations management principles and developing and administering operations and staff plans and objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field required, with five to seven years of experience as a Professional Engineer knowledgeable in general construction, water and sewer system construction, stormwater drainage, roadway construction, estimating, and development plans review.
- Valid Tennessee licensure as a Professional Engineer required or ability to transfer from the state of certification to Tennessee within 12 months.
