Job Summary

Vanguard-IP is seeking a highly skilled Patent Attorney or Agent to join our team. As a key member of our IP team, you will be responsible for preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and filing patent applications, including new applications, office action responses, and Information Disclosure Statements.
  • Managing a docket of applications and patents with associated deadlines, including direct communications with client personnel and Firm's paralegals and support staff.
  • Performing foreign prosecution-related tasks, such as preparation and filing of PCT applications and non-US prosecution filings.
  • Maintaining expertise in U.S. patent laws and a working knowledge of patent laws, regulations, and processes throughout the world.
  • Entering, editing, and tracking daily billable time in the Firm's timekeeping system.
Requirements
  • Direct patent drafting and prosecution experience.
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Subject matter expertise in Computer Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering with at least a BA in Computer Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Attorney candidates must have a JD from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, conscientious, reliable, eye for quality and detail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as within a team involving extensive collaboration with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
