About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team at Children's Health. As a PICU Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, family-centered care.

Responsibilities
  • Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care, utilizing clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines to assess patient needs and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Ensure patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations, while promoting comfort and well-being.
  • Oversee care delivered by the patient care team, coordinating plans of care and providing education and learning opportunities for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive plans of care, promoting patient outcomes and family-centered care.
  • Advocate for patients, representing their concerns and identifying and resolving ethical and clinical concerns.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document all patient encounters in EPIC, ensuring the protection and security of Patient Health Information (PHI).
  • Adhere to infection prevention initiatives, delivering competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in a PICU setting, with a strong focus on critical care and patient safety.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas, with Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • PALS/NRP/ACLS certifications, with the ability to obtain PACES certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and families.
