Nuclear Safety Expert for Fissile Materials Operations

At NANA Regional Corp, we are seeking an experienced Nuclear Safety Expert to support our fissile materials operations at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer, Level VI, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe processing, storage, transfer, and handling of fissile materials.
As a Nuclear Safety Expert, you will be responsible for the development, revision, and review of Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documentation, including Criticality Safety Evaluations (CSEs), Nuclear Criticality Safety Determinations (NCSDs), Technical Deviations (TDs), and other NCS technical basis documentation. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring compliance with approvals and maintaining a safe working environment.
The successful candidate will have a BS Degree or higher in a technical discipline from an ABET-accredited university and at least 20 years of relevant experience, with 10 or more years of direct experience in DOE-specific Nuclear Criticality Safety. You will be highly experienced in the application of DOE rules, guides, orders, standards, and handbooks, including 10CFR 830, Nuclear Safety Management.
This role requires an active DOE Q clearance, which you will be expected to maintain throughout your employment. You will also be required to participate in a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and may be required to undergo job-related pre-placement medical examinations.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, revise, and review NCS documentation
• Conduct daily nuclear facility support, including facility walkdowns, review of NCS requirements implementing documents, and participation at facility Operational Safety Boards
• Provide technical capabilities in NCS to ensure fissile materials are processed, stored, transferred, and handled safely
• Perform analysis of equipment, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with approvals
• Conduct surveillances, inspections, walkthroughs, appraisals, or audits of fissile material operations
• Provide operating areas with specific NCS professional interpretations and advice
• Perform training to employees in basic NCS as requested
• Qualifications:
