The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) to ensure the safe handling, processing, and storage of fissile materials. This includes performing analysis of equipment, processes, and procedures, conducting surveillances and inspections, and providing training to employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide NCS technical capabilities to ensure the safe handling, processing, and storage of fissile materials.
  • Perform analysis of equipment, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with DOE rules and regulations.
  • Conduct surveillances and inspections to ensure compliance with NCS requirements.
  • Provide training to employees on NCS principles and procedures.
  • Validate and maintain nuclear computer codes and nuclear cross-sections.
  • Develop and review NCS documentation, including Criticality Safety Evaluations and Nuclear Criticality Safety Determinations.
  • Participate in facility Operational Safety Boards and provide daily nuclear facility support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the application of DOE rules, guides, orders, standards, and handbooks.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance badge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • P.E. License.
  • Active Q Clearance.
  • 20+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • 10 years of experience in a DOE-regulated environment.
