Wildland Fire Conservation Specialist

The Student Conservation Association is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Wildland Fire Conservation Specialist to join our team. As a member of our Conservation Corps, you will play a critical role in supporting wildland fire management and conservation efforts in the US Forest Service.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with prescribed burning and fuel reduction efforts
- Support wildfire response and suppression efforts
- Conduct conservation tasks as identified by the US Forest Service
- Participate in regular Physical Training (PT) throughout the season
- Ability to pass the Work Capacity Test at the arduous level
- Ability to work variable hours, including long days and weekends
- Ability to perform manual labor for up to 10 hours per day
- Prior experience working in an outside setting
- Prior experience working as a member of a team
- Passion for wildland fire and conservation work
- Living allowance: $300/week (pretax)
- Commuting allowance: $300/week (pretax)
- Onetime $650 travel allowance (pretax)
- Shared housing with crew
- Meals (during work days)
- Eligibility for 675hour AmeriCorps education award ($2,626.27)
- Eligibility for a Public Land Corps Certificate for Noncompetitive Hiring Status
