Job Summary

The Maryland School for the Blind is seeking a highly skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide essential services to children and adults with visual impairments, empowering them to navigate their surroundings with confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop individualized Orientation and Mobility plans for students and clients
  • Provide in-service training programs and disseminate O&M information to colleagues
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support for students and clients
  • Transport students in personal vehicles to training sites
  • Stand and walk frequently, for lengthy periods of time; push and pull in excess of 100 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance

Requirements

  • Minimum of O&M Certification by a recognized University Program or Bachelor's Degree in O&M
  • ACVREP certification or certifiable in the field of Orientation and Mobility
  • Comprehensive knowledge of O&M techniques and teaching approaches
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
