Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our Imaging Services team, you will be responsible for performing radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including mammography and fluoroscopy.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills, explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring optimal views of specified areas of the body.
  • Adjust immobilization devices and determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and body portion involved.
  • Operate radiologic equipment, including mobile units, to produce high-quality images.
  • Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Process images, review for quality control, and complete forms and records as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Orient new hires and train students as needed.
Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a specialty (mammography) or one year of experience with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in that specialty.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California) and Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals and groups with varying knowledge of Radiology services.
